WhatsApp Polls in GoHighLevel Workflows | WhatsLevel

September 07, 2026

WhatsApp polls in GoHighLevel workflows let a contact answer a question directly in WhatsApp. WhatsLevel's Send WhatsApp Poll action connects single-choice options to workflow branches. The first valid vote selects the branch, so your next step can follow the contact's answer.

Ask one question with a useful next step

Use a poll when a short choice can guide follow-up. For example, ask an existing inquiry whether they want service information, a booking conversation or help with an existing request. These are suggested uses, not customer results. Each option should lead to a useful action that you configure in GHL.

Keep the question clear and the options distinct. WhatsLevel supports a single-choice poll with two to twelve options. A poll is a decision step inside your workflow, not an automatic qualification model or a replacement for a conversation.

Set up the poll and its branches

  1. Add the Send WhatsApp Poll action to your GHL workflow.
  2. Write the question and connect each answer option to its intended branch.
  3. Set the response window and configure the no-response path supported by your action setup.
  4. Test with a contact whose phone number can receive WhatsApp messages.

The question can contain up to 255 characters and each option up to 100. A connected device and a usable contact phone number are required. The workflow integration also needs valid authorization to resume after the response; a delivered poll alone does not prove that the next step ran.

Handle the first vote, changed answers and silence

The first valid vote determines the workflow branch. If the contact changes their answer later, the stored response can update, but the workflow does not switch to a new branch. Design the next step with that rule in mind, especially if it sends a message or changes a record.

You can configure a response window from one minute to thirty days. Test the timeout path as well as a normal answer. If you choose to write the response to a custom field, create that field first and verify that it updates in your test.

Check the full journey before using it with clients

Test one initial vote, a changed vote and no response. Check both the WhatsApp message and the GHL workflow history. Polls use the primary online device, or another online device when needed; they do not select the sending number from a GHL user's device assignment.

Begin with a simple question for contacts already expecting your follow-up. Once delivery, branching and timeout behavior are verified, add the next step your agency actually needs. For the initial connection, use our WhatsApp and GoHighLevel setup guide.

Ask a question. Give each answer a next step.

Build your poll inside a GHL workflow and configure the follow-up for each choice.
